Many of us dream of having straighter teeth. If you wish to improve your smile, but are not sure whether conventional orthodontic treatment is right for you, Invisalign could be the answer.
This near-invisible teeth straightening system is a gentle, effective way to achieve a straighter, more even smile.
Here at Hibiscus Dental, we provide patients with the option of specialised Invisalign treatment. As a clinic that offers both traditional orthodontics (braces) and this transparent alternative, we are able to provide patients with an unbiased opinion regarding which option is going to deliver the best results for them.
Situated in Red Beach, our clinic is conveniently located for those in Orewa, Rodney, Whangaparaoa and the surrounding region.
What exactly is Invisalign?
The Invisalign straightening system uses a series of virtually imperceptible aligners to gently move your teeth into line over time. As specially trained dentists, we are able to create aligners that are specifically designed for your teeth; these aligners are changed roughly every two weeks to move your teeth little by little. This process continues until your teeth have straightened to their final position and therefore the duration of this treatment plan varies depending on the individual.
Aligners are removable, so you can take them out to eat and clean your teeth. The best bit? They are virtually invisible, meaning no one will even know you are having treatment!
How do these aligners differ to braces?
This is a common question many of our patients ask: what is the difference between braces and the Invisalign system?
Aside from obvious differences such as the appearance (i.e. metal braces versus clear plastic aligners), there are a number of other differences that patients should be aware of. Due to the removable nature of the aligners, Invisalign makes it easier to eat and maintain better oral hygiene throughout the course of treatment. Many patients also report that a change in aligners produces less discomfort compared to having braces tightened, while mouth ulcers and also less likely.
With this being the case, many people also ask why anyone would still opt to have braces. While Invisalign is an excellent option for closing gaps and gently straightening misaligned teeth, it is not always suited to each and every scenario. In the case of complex dental issues, such as serious malocclusion or an abnormal bite, conventional orthodontics is often required to achieve the best outcome.
If cracked and broken teeth are an issue, we also offer dental crowns and implants.
