How does the whitening process work?

Since many stains are within the outer layer of the tooth (i.e. extrinsic stains), it is possible to lessen their severity via bleaching. Using either carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide to break apart the staining compounds, your smile can be visibly whitened.

At Hibiscus Coast Dental, we can custom-make a tray that fits over your teeth. This tray can be used with a whitening gel at home to gently whiten your smile over time. If weak enamel is a problem, we can also offer a fluoride treatment to help strengthen enamel and counteract the weakening effect of the bleach.
