Stephen has lived and worked on the Hibiscus Coast since 1999. Combining extensive clinical experience with a reputation for integrity, he is highly regarded for his precise and calm approach.
Known for his meticulous eye for detail and caring nature, Stephen is committed to delivering beautiful, highly functional results. He knows that visiting the dentist can be daunting, which is why his practice is built on taking the time to listen, explain, and ensure you feel completely at ease before any treatment begins. With a broad clinical expertise including cosmetic and restorative dentistry, orthodontics, implants, and sedation, Stephen is expertly equipped to help his patients navigate and confidently select their best treatment choices
He has a particular talent for orthodontics and intravenous sedation, and is known for delivering comfortable, anxiety-free treatment. Because of this, he frequently receives referrals from other dentists to manage complex wisdom tooth extractions and treat highly anxious patients. Since 2018, he has also served as an educator, teaching orthodontics to other dentists in both New Zealand and Australia.
Outside of the clinic, Stephen is an avid enthusiast of both the technical and the natural world. He finds creative balance through photography and the intricate detail of model making, though he is just as likely to be found exploring the depths while scuba diving. A devoted family man, he treasures time spent with his wife and two daughters, whether they are embarking on new travel adventures or enjoying the simple pleasure of walking their rescue dogs. These diverse passions keep him energized and bring a well-rounded perspective to his dedicated care for his patients.
Tom Lu | Dentist – BDS Otago
Dr Tom Lu has been a valued dentist at Hibiscus Coast Dental since 2008, earning a strong reputation for his gentle, genuine care and dedication to the local community.
Tom believes exceptional dentistry goes beyond treating teeth alone. His patient-centred approach focuses on building meaningful relationships to understand each individual’s needs, goals, and expectations. By working collaboratively, he helps patients achieve optimal oral health alongside their ideal smile.
Committed to delivering the highest standard of modern dentistry, Tom actively pursues ongoing professional development. Since graduating from the University of Otago in 2006, he has completed extensive advanced training, including:

Luke Prangley
With nearly two decades of experience, Luke Prangley brings a rare blend of clinical expertise, life experience, and genuine care to every appointment. A “Coastie” through and through, Luke has spent most of his life on the beautiful Hibiscus Coast. He now lives on a lifestyle block in Coatesville with his wife Claire and their three children, Mia, Knox, and Eden.
Since graduating from the University of Otago in 2005, Luke has built a strong reputation with his warm, approachable manner and uncompromising standard of care. Forming lasting relationships with those he treats, many of Luke’s patients have been with him for years, often travelling across the country to remain under his care. Luke believes the foundation of great dentistry lies in a trusted, long-term relationship between dentist and patient. Known for his calm, clear communication and patient-led approach, Luke makes sure you fully understand your treatment options so you leave feeling informed, comfortable and genuinely cared for.
With a special interest in cosmetic and restorative dentistry—including crowns, bridges and implant restorations—Luke works closely with Auckland’s leading dental specialists and technicians to deliver complex, multidisciplinary treatment plans with precision and care. Staying up to date with the latest advances, Luke ensures his patients receive the most high-quality treatment options available.
Outside the clinic, you’ll find Luke spending time with family, exploring local beaches, playing golf or watching just about any sport. In 2025 he was elected to the Coatesville School Board of Trustees where he holds the position of Treasurer. He has travelled extensively and has a passion for history, politics and geography. Luke has climbed Mt Kilimanjaro, but these days the adventures are closer to home, racing kids down sand dunes or discovering starfish in rock pools. Kish grew up in Auckland and attended the University of Auckland, completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science. From there he earned a Commonwealth Scholarship where he completed his Dental Degree at the University of Melbourne in 2015.
Not one to shy away from a challenge he took on role in a rural hospital in Australia before returning to New Zealand to work in private practice in Southland. He has worked in Northland for the past 6 years where he has gained a reputation for being kind and gentle in his approach to general dentistry. Having gained experience in a range of settings over time, he is able to deliver high-quality general dentistry.
His focus is to understand patients’ situations so that they can overcome any barriers they have to achieving their optimal oral health. He believes good experiences are the cornerstone of reaching these goals.
Kish has had the goal of moving his young family to the Hibiscus Coast for some time and becoming a ‘Coastie’. He enthusiastically took up the opportunity to join the Hibiscus Coast Dental team. He looks forward to settling down here for the long run and building long-lasting and positive relationships with his patients.
Jane Cherry
With 30 years of clinical experience, Jane is a highly skilled hygienist renowned for her thoroughness and expertise in treating periodontal disease.
She combines a warm, professional chairside manner with a high level of clinical precision working with magnification and the latest technology.
Dedicated to personalized care, Jane provides tailored oral health instruction and offers expert orthodontic support to Dr. Stephen Treble and Dr. Tom Lu.
Respectful and passionate about her role, she prides herself on listening to her patients and meeting their individual needs with excellence.
Caron Weir
Caron began her dental career in Takapuna in 1992 and graduated from Otago in 1998. With over 25 years of experience, she is passionate about helping patients achieve and maintain optimal oral health through education, prevention, and personalised care.
Having worked across Takapuna, Christchurch, Orewa, and Silverdale, Caron is delighted to now be back on the Hibiscus Coast, caring for the community she grew up in.
She is committed to staying at the forefront of dental hygiene, combining the latest technology with evidence-based care, while also offering natural alternatives where appropriate.
